   Proposal Description:
   Specific Aim 1: To determine if use of AEDs alters the course of AD.  Subaim 1a: To determine if use of AEDs alters the rate of conversion from normal to MCI.  Subaim 1b: To determine if use of AEDs alters the rate of conversion from MCI to AD.  Subaim 1c: To determine if use of AEDs alters the rate of progressive decline in AD.  Specific Aim 2: To determine if specific types of AEDs alter the course of AD.  Subaim 2a: To determine if sodium channel???blocking AEDs have a different effect on the course of AD compared with AEDs with other mechanisms of action.  Subaim 2b: To determine if AEDs effective against absence epilepsy have a different effect on the course of AD compared with AEDs that are ineffective against absence seizures.
